Sloan's First Easter & Cardiology Update

We had a busy and fun first Easter with Sloan. We started off the weekend coloring eggs on Friday with big brother Drake.  Drake got a kick out of coloring his eggs and Sloan, as usual, was such a good and patient baby while we helped Drake. On Saturday & Sunday we were able to see both sets of grandparents and had two egg hunts.  It was a bit too cold for Sloan to go out and watch Drake search for his eggs, but Drake had a blast looking for them.  It was wonderful to just spend time at home all together as a family.

We also had our second check up at UofM this month.  All in all it was a good appointment.  Her cardiologist was happy with her weight gain and the dietitian upped her daily intake goal since she's been doing well with feedings.  Her echo came back showing some improvement in both her heart function (went from mild/normal function to normal function) and some improvement in her leaky valve (went from moderate to mild leak).  This proves that the medications she is currently on are doing their job so the doctor didn't want to adjust any of them at this time.

We also began discussing timing for Sloan's second surgery.  The cardiologist would like to target the end of June when Sloan hits five months old.  They are going to start to look at the surgeons schedule and get something booked.  I have mixed feelings about the second surgery.  I want as much time as I can to get Sloan big and strong, but am eager to get it over with as I feel that it's looming a bit over our heads.  I guess for now I just need to continue to take things a day at a time and be thankful that she seems to be holding her ground and doing well.

Here's a few more recent pictures of the little lady!

Smiles!

  1. I am glad things went well at Sloan's appointment. She looks amazing. Just remember, the second stage is easier than the first. Caleb had his at exactly five months old and was home in ten days.

  2. Oh my goodness! What a doll-baby!!! I saw your pics on Michelle's site and had to visit and comment! I have a Transposition/VSD child too, only mine is now 9. :-)
I love that you started a blog, I wish I had chronicled more of our journey to remember all the little details.
