Well since our last post quite a few things have happened....Sloan's oxygen levels still haven't been at a consistent level that the doctors are happy with. After consulting with Dr. Bove again they now feel that the length of the shunt is what is holding her back. So they have decided to do a shunt replacement which calls for them to go back in for surgery. While we were devastated to hear that the heart cath didn't do the trick and that she'll need to go back through this all again, we are ready to move forward and get this over with so she can begin to feel better and heal. Surgery is set for the first case tomorrow, Monday, February 11th. Dr Ohye will be performing the surgery in Dr Bove's absence. Dr Ohye was a surgeon we considered when we first started to visit UofM for our appointments so we feel good about him and what he is capable of doing. He also was taught by Dr Bove so we know that he is a great surgeon as well.

Ben & Alissa

Yesterday, Ben and Alissa also came up for a visit. They happened to show up right as we got the news that surgery was necessary so things were a bit down at first but they quickly lifted our spirits by being there for support. They also gave Sloan a nice gift in preparation for surgery. It's the definition of her name framed. I've included a copy of it below as her name is so fitting for all that she has been through. She definitely is our warrior & fighter and continues to show us every day that she is living up to this name!

Tonight Kyle and I will head home a little bit early so we can get up and back over here to hold Sloan before her surgery. It's been just over a week since the last time we were able to hold her (the day of her first surgery). It's such an odd feeling tonight, very excited to have her get her surgery so we can move forward and also a bit of nervousness since she's going in for surgery. In preparation for tomorrow I wanted to post a picture of our little family wearing our "Team Sloan" support shirts. Our friends Billy, Jessica & Hendrix sent these to us - Jessica designed them (thanks Jessica!). Figured it was fitting to let Sloan know we are all behind her and know she is going to do great tomorrow. We love you Sloan!

Just wanting to let you know I'm thinking of you all will be praying for Sloan tomorrow. Hate to hear she is having to go back in for surgery. Praying this does the trick and y'all can start moving forward to getting her home. And by the way...you look beautiful in all of your pictures. Not fair to look so good less than two weeks after having a baby. :)
