Off To Surgery

Sloan was sent off to surgery this morning to repair her shunt around 7:30am.  Dr Ohye stopped in to meet us and describe what will be happening during the repair.  He was very personable and confident which made us feel reassured.  He expects his portion of the procedure to take around an hour to an hour and a half and that he'd begin around 8:30am.  We are very hopeful that this will be the fix and that we can put this behind us and move forward.

Kyle and I showed up early this morning to hold Sloan before surgery.  It had been exactly a week and three days since the last time we held her.  She had her eyes open a little bit this morning but most of the time she was just snugly and sleepy. Our nurse let us know that last night she had a very good night which made us happy to know she got some good sleep in.  Sometimes she can be quite the pistol at night!

Now we'll sit with my parents and wait for updates.  We are praying for a textbook surgery & recovery this time around and that Dr Ohye and his team are given skillful hands to complete this needed repair.  Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers.  Keep sending your good vibes towards Ann Arbor & Sloan!  We will keep everyone updated as we hear more.

  1. Praying for Dr. Ohye's skillful hands, for Sloan's amazing strength and for some peace for you both. Hopefully this will be just what she needs.
