Just Another Wednesday In Ann Arbor

Clean & tired after a bath from mommy
Today was another day of completing tasks for discharge and having some mommy & Sloan time.  Signs are still pointing towards Friday being the day, but I am not banking on it just in case things go in a different direction.

We worked on feeding again today and Sloan seems to want to stay at 5 cc's and 7 cc's as the max she'll take for me.  She has a good suck on the pacifier so I know she has potential, I just need her to get used to the bottle and stuff coming out of it when she sucks.  Everyone tells me that she'll do better when we get home and on our own schedule.  I hope they are right!  I also practiced inserting her feeding tube again today and did much better than my first time.  Luckily these only need to be changed every 30 days so hopefully she won't need a change anytime soon.  While I know how to change it, I still don't enjoy it.

This morning the team here at UofM set up a conference call with our cardiologist, our local pediatrician and the UofM team taking care of Sloan to discuss Sloan's situation (her diagnosis, procedures to date, plan till discharge, medications, etc).  It was so nice to have this set up and be able to participate in the call.  It made me feel that we were all on the same page and communication lines were established.

Tomorrow the plan is to complete additional tasks prior to discharge so we can get those off the list as well.  Slowly but surely we are moving in the right direction.  Now we just need to continue this way!

  1. She is sooo beautiful! Glad things are going well, and as scary as those first steps alone will be I'm sure once you're in the comforts of home things will come naturally. Wishing you much luck, you've all waited so long to have your time as a family of four at home. :)

  2. That is so great that they set up that conference call for you! We didn't have that and there was definitely a gap there. Glad to hear things are heading in the right direction and that you guys are going home this weekend! Everyone is so right- eating gets so much better when you get home. Aly only had a feeding tube for a few days after we got home. She still barely was eating enough to get by without using, but it was enough to get by. :) Sending thoughts and prayers for DISCHARGE and a healthy interstage. <3
