Proud Big Brother!

Daddy, big brother & sister
Big brother Drake was up to visit this weekend to take mommy & daddy's mind off of things.  He also was able to hold his little sister for the first time.  As you can see from the photo, he's quite proud.  We can tell already that he's going to be a great big brother!

Today is day three, the final day, of precautionary antibiotics for Sloan.  Like Kyle and I were assuming, they are not thinking it's NEC.  Our gut has been telling us it's something to do with the formula they are mixing with my breast milk to give Sloan extra calories.  So when they begin her feeds again tomorrow, we are going to discuss with the dietitian a different formula for her.  Maybe the one we had Drake on.  Drake had so many tummy issues I wouldn't be surprised if Sloan has some of the same.

Other than that, things have been status quo.  There have been no other bloody stools and the goal is to continue to keep Sloan comfortable.  At times she does get cranky and hungry but they are trying to manage this and she seems to be tolerating things pretty well overall.  When she's held, she's quite happy so we've been trying to cuddle with her as much as possible.  Hopefully tomorrow we'll have a good report when they restart her feeds.

Kisses for sister

  1. Wonderful news! Hopefully a new formula will do the trick. If you meet resistance, make sure your voice is heard on this one!
