Post Op Update

Our heart baby proudly wearing her heart headband
Our little fighter continues to show us her strength.  Since surgery Kyle, the grandparents, Drake, Uncle Mike & Aunt Lori have all been able to go back and see her.  Dr. Bove did leave her chest open so it was quite hard to look at her at first.  Very much a shock.  But I know it's all for the best to help her.  So I try to keep that in mind.  They did move us from our original room but just one room over.  We had thought we'd be placed in the bay (large open area with the most critical babies) but instead they have given us a private room.  It is nice to have the private room, but Kyle and I didn't care where she was placed as long as she is getting great care - which she is.

They have told us the next 24 - 48 hours will be a roller coaster ride, with the first 12 hours following surgery being the most critical.  Thus we are not out of the woods just yet.   They've warned us about a few things that could happen so we won't be surprised (need for chest tubes, her stats going up and/or down, etc).  We've decided to head back a little bit early tonight and try to get some much needed rest.

Kyle, Drake and I want to thank all of you for your calls/emails/texts sharing your love, prayers and support.  We feel so blessed to have such amazing family and friends to rely on in a time of need.  I cannot wait to tell Sloan how many people were pulling for her.  She is one special little girl with quite the support group!

We'll be sure to continue to keep you all posted on her recovery.  Please send up prayers that we hit as few bumps in the road as possible.  Lots of love....
